Notice if Rejected?

I tried to find an answer to this question using the search function without luck (forgive me if it is clearly answered elsewhere).

I believe I understand that Editors do not notify of a site's inclusion to the index.

Do Editors notify after reviewing and rejecting a site (if they determine NOT to include it in ODP)?

Thanks for this great resource and your time!

No, notices are not sent out. Sites are suggestions only, and if declined no one is informed of that decision (we would spend half our time emailing rather than reviewing if that were the case). You can post in the submission status section of this forum, however, if you are interested if your site has been reviewed :)

No, editors won't notify when they reject a site. How would that help us?

How would that help legitimate submitters, who are by definition the people who DON'T submit unlistable sites?

It wouldn't even help ignorant submitters who were trying to learn to be legitimate -- that's what the submitters' policies are for!

It would be a GREAT boon to spammers, who would therefore know how and when to change their submittal approach so as to cause ODP editors maximum effort and annoyance.

In other words, that would be us going to more work solely to make it more convenient for spammers to cause us more work and degrade the directory quality. No, thanks.

On a very rare occasion, I will notify a site owner if the site URL is incorrect or not working, but the description is very well written, that they should resubmit with the correct URL. On one occcasion I really wanted to add the site, but something needed fixing before I could put it in and I emailed them.

If a site is rejected because it just won't be accepted e.g. it's already in ODP in the correct category, and they just want another listing, I would never contact them.
