While I know people are working hard and are volunteers, will searh engines continue to use this directory? If people like myself continue having an awful hard time getting listed one could conclude that the search engines are not getting the best and up to dated information that they might. I've been trying to list a medical center for disabled children for over 4 month now @ http://dmoz.org/Business/Healthcare/Products_and_Services/Hyperbaric/Therapy_Providers/

and am supprised what a grueling process. Other sites-BANG! there in----go figure?

I understand, in the past I've had my own sites accepted in ODP the same day, and others wait for months. The same for sites I review and add, I see sites waiting for over two years, and many I add the same day.

But the same may be said for Google, I had one totally new site go in the same day a few weeks ago. Others seem to take months to get in.

But if you hang around here long enough you will find that many editors don't think that the validy of ODP would be affected by search engines no longer using it, on the other hand it might get rid of all the spam and improve the quality, and allow catching up with the backlog. After which the search engines would be jumping to use it again. :p

How is the process grueling? You find the proper category, click on the "Suggest URL" link, fill in the info, and you're done. Whew! I'm working up a sweat just thinking about it :)

I'm just teasing. I do understand your point, but you have to understand that we're not sitting around waiting for submissions. We're building a directory, and we appreciate people making submissions to help us out, but it's not the only way we have of finding web sites to add. The best advice when dealing with the ODP is to submit your web site and forget about it. Go work on important things that you will be able to have some control over. The ODP is not like other directories {moz}
