ODP credit

We will be using the ODP data and some slight alterations will be made as well as additions to the content.
I know that because of this we have to say that we're using the ODP data with our own modifications, as Google does.

Besides that we also have to display the following credit, I think
http://rdf.dmoz.org/become_an_editor/

If so, do we have to use it exactly as provided or some CSS styles may be applied to it? It interpheres a lot with our current color scheme and it would be great to use the same CSS for it. I am not reffering to another text information or structure, just to its color scheme.

You are right on diplaying copyright, modification notice and the attribution box - thats how it is stated in the license. I agree tha the text of the license does not mention any changes to the style, but:

I have not heard of any case were someone was punished for not using the correct colours. I think that - as long as the attribution stays clearly visible to the user - this should not be a problem.

(Remember that I am not ODP staff - only a volunteer editor - so this is a comment of my own - based only on some past experience)

OK, thanks for your pertinent response. No significant changes will be made to the table other than the color scheme...I guess if this will be an issue, we would be notified before any measures are taken.

This is not a new question. IIRC, staff answered last time: changing the colors is officially OK.

How about changign the layout? With that box, it really does not match up with the layout of my current site.

The license is a legal agreement/issue and editors do not have the authorisation to approve any attribution that is different from the one highlighted at http://dmoz.org/become_an_editor/

The only official exception to this is to ammend the colours as long as the colours do not affect the ability to see and use the attribution for its intended purpose.

... which is a way of saying: "Sorry, but we don't know. AOL staf has not made a statement on this yet."
