Old URL removed but not relisted

Hi,

I work for a company that runs a UK local directory and guide which has all original high quality content. The URL used to belong to a company, Citikey, in a different industry and was listed here in the DMOZ (under Palm Pilot software).

About a year and a half ago we applied to have the site listed in the correct category but until the old one was removed this was not possible. About 6 months ago the incorrect listing was removed and we applied to be included in the correct category:

http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Guides_and_Directories/Local_Directories/

We have still not been included and I was wondering if that could be due to the old URL still?

Thanks,

John.

I'm sure you understand that we can't give you information about your specific site (as that would be a status check) but the most likely answer to the question "Why isn't my site listed yet?" is simply that no one had had a chance to review it yet.

Thanks. Is six months normal for a site submission? Is it related to the category having no Editor?

Almost anything is normal for a site suggestion, because suggestions are not (and ought not to be) taken into account for prioritization.

No category has "no editor" -- see the forum FAQ.

OK, I think I understand now. Are you saying that things like website traffic and other external measures of popularity are used to prioritise listings?

No, not at all -- though an editor is more likely to find a more popular site earlier, statistically speaking.

Editors work according to their own interest, is all.

How do editors find more popular sites earlier? Do they use things like Alexa rankings?

Maybe some do, but not to my knowledge, and I don't even know how that would work -- what I meant was that a popular site per definition is one that is visited by more people, some of whom are possibly ODP editors. I'm only talking about statistical likelihoods here.
