This may not be the section to ask this question, but I was reading about the real estate sites and this is where I ended up.

Does a dmoz listing contain any invisible keyword information when it is sent to google or searched on at google. for example my site is listed as Mac Ridgeway - Prudential would I be in the results for "Charleston Real Estate"

Nope. What you see is what you get.

Google will figure out if you belong in "Charleston Real Estate" based on whether or not you say "Charleston Real Estate" on your site. :)

Google is also able to get the categories, right? So if your real estate office is in Charleston, your site would be in the Charleston:Real Estate category in ODP.

That is not entirely true. My site is hemet-real-estate.com and my keywords are "hemet real estate". My office is in Hemet, My description says Hemet Real Estate, my content is all Hemet and I have a Hemet MLS Database. You will not find me under "Hemet Real Estate" in Google or ODP. I was there a couple days back though! Haha

We've mentioned the limitations of ODP search. Did you look for "Hemet property"? (two results, one of which is you). "Hemet residential property"? (same thing) It's doing that because ODP search looks only for words in the site title, URL, and listing, and we don't keyword-stuff the listing. And, of course, none of your potential customers will be using ODP search anyway.

Google search -- officially we don't care. But for the record, I DID find you in Google search today. Very low in the ranking, but Google just came out with a major algorithm change, and there will be a number of changes before this one settles down. You're prematurely panicking. Give it a month, and then panic.

Or, if you're concerned about Google results, consult an expert in improving Google results, which is not our business here (and most of us are not good at it.)

If you want to improve your Google standing then get yourself a site review at some place such as searchengineforums which has a topic area reserved exactly for that purpose.
