Hy .. I come to you with a problem ...

I've launched my site on 9 September 2007.

On August or September 2008 i've suggested my site to DMoz ( right category, right everything ) .. nothing happended ...

On September .. Octomber 2009 i've re-suggested my site to DMOZ ( same category ) ... it's been 4 more months ( plus the 12 before ) .. and still nothing ...

That specific category doesn't have an editor but i understand that editors with higher access are looking at submissions even if the specific category doesn't have an editor ..

To give some details, my site is a Portal, It's ranked TOP 10 in the category "Portals" in my country by traffic ..
I don't see any reason why my submission whould be rejected or ignored ...

Further more ... some sites listed in the DMOZ in that category are dead ...

Can anybody help me with something ?

This is such a frequently asked question that there's an entry in this forum's FAQ (link in the page header) with the answer :).

There is no need to re-suggest your website and doing so could be counter-productive because a later suggestion overwrites any earlier one. Do it too often and you could be thought to be a spammer.

I read all of the FAQ ... but i'm really frustrated that some sites that are dead are listed and others that really deserve to be listed aren't.
I've suggested once, and re-suggested once after a year and still no answer ( as: site approved, go to hell or something ) . That can't be considered spam.

... any ideas ? Should I wait another year ? Gizas ...

If you know of any dead websites that are listed please let us know in the quality control section of this forum.

and others that really deserve to be listed aren't.
That is a misunderstanding. No site "deserves to be listed".

I've suggested once, and re-suggested once after a year and still no answer
We never send an answer.

That can't be considered spam.
Correct. Twice is not spam. But it is the first step towards spam.

You can do anything you like. You can wait as long as you want. You can do some more usefull things. It doesn't matter as neither will inlfuence when a website will be reviewed.
There is only one thing you should not do. And that is suggest the same website another time.

... it's frustrating ... it really is ... and I would be ok if I knew somebody is skinning the submissions at least 2 .. 3 a day ... so my time will come ... or if I knew that it was rejected .. so i wouldn't hope for a listing .. or something .. anything ....

It's like you place an order for a product on a site .. and you don't know if somebody is viewing the order .. if they have it .. when it will be in your hands ( if it will be ever ) ... and stuff like that :(

No it isn't.

In your example, you have a commercial contract. With us, you merely suggested that we list your websites.

You are right ... but the visitors and the webmasters that visit DMOZ are "customers" of what the site offers ... i think with a little effort a lot can be done to please a lot more people ...

Surely you don't mean that we hobbyists aren't working hard enough on your behalf! Actually, we aren't working on your behalf at all. We're working for the pleasure of it and for our data users.

Last comment from me:

There are 2 kind of things in general you can have: need to have & nice to have !

My opinion: Having a site listed in DMOZ is "nice to have" but not really "need to have" ... and it's a lot of pain & waiting for something you really don't "need to have" ...

It's a real shame that such a site doesn't really care about webmasters and the effort/waiting/nervs/etc they have getting a site listed !

Have a nice day all.

I can't speak for the "site" you refer to, but as far as volunteer editors are concerned, our only aim is to build and improve the directory. If we sat around being bothered by all the frustration and angst you describe, we'd never do anything productive at all.

And exactly how much "effort" does it take to fill in the suggestion form? A few minutes at most, surely?
The "waiting" and "nervs" are not part of the process, but are entirely your own choice, and therefore nothing whatsoever to do with volunteers looking for sites to add.

:( Same problem all the time :( I think some editor to slow
And do you think that spamming a forum, posting the same comment in several threads will solve the imaginary problem you have.
