Dear DMOZ

We have submitted our site last year and resubmitted it a few days ago.. We know that resubmitting a site would be considered as a spam thus we would not do it again, but could you do us a favour please... Can you kindly advice when would you list our site .... We can drop the site URL here as well if you don't mind.

Many Thanks in advance for your advice and update.

Kind Regards....

Some volunteer will process your listing suggestion in time but we can't predict who or when that might be. Elapsed times can range from a few days to a few years. There is no need to re-suggest your website and doing so could be counter-productive because a later suggestion overwrites any earlier one.

please help

Over the last 12 months my site <url removed> has been submitted to opd. Lately my stats on Google analytics show that the site has been visited by editord/dmoz. Can someone please advise if my site is near submission?

Thank you

No, we can't.
Even when you meant "near listing" we can not answer the question.
Please read the FAQ, the thread marked with "announcement" and those marked "important".

It is not hard at all. You only have to create a good website and to get that website noticed by an editor.
The problems lies in the fact that people think that DMOZ is a listing service and that their website will be listed within a certain timeframe. Both are not true.
Please notice that not all websites will be listed and that we do not predict any timeframe for a listing. Except that it can happen somewhen between a few days and several years.

Yes. We aren't a listing service, and the suggestion pool is only one of the sources for listings.

Yes.

All the editors are volunteers. We edit in the evenings and on weekends and when we have some free time. Furthermore, we are free to edit in whatever area interests us at the moment (within the limits of our editing permissions), and if a particular category doesn't attract the attention and interest of any editors for a while, then nobody is going to edit there. And even when we do decide to edit in a particular category, reviewing sites that have been suggested for review by the public is only one of the tasks we can do there.

So it can take a few days or several years for a suggested site to be reviewed. Or anything in between.

[edited to add: gloria is faster :D ]

To be fair, some sites are listed weeks (OR YEARS!) before they're ever suggested.

Editors and webmasters don't have to work in the same time zone. For that matter, three volunteer editors are likely to be in three different time zones.

And that's a strength of the web, not a weakness.
