Ownership/content change of domain with a listing

I'm looking to buy a domain that already has a *bad* listing in a category completely different from the content I'll be putting on the site. Once I take over the domain and put up my own content, how will the previous listing affect my submission? Is there any way a previous submission could have a negative impact on the domain's ability to be accepted and properly listed?

We judge sites by the content that they have now, not by what it used to be like (or what webmasters promise to put up). If the content changes, so should the listing. You can send an update request to the category where it's listed now and ask to move it to the new category (and give it a new title and description).

The fact that the domain was used before should not be negative. But it's important your description clearly states the totally changed content.
