Re: Status check please.

Your site is awaiting review in this category, along with about a dozen other ones.

Re: Status check please.

Your main URL is already listed in the parent Excel category. A deeplink to the forum page isn't going to be added to the Help subcat as well.

Re: Status check please.

Not sure why you call: http://ozgrid.com/forum/ a "deep link"? Seems odd that yesterday I was waiting in a que, now after some 'run ins' with some editors here I get pushed to the top and rejected!

There are many many sites that have more than one listing (many have these deep links you mention). I fail to see how our Excel help could not be considered a valuable resource for DMOZ vistors? Particualy as you have these links in there:

Excel Fix (Doorway Page)

Excel Help for Beginners (one very small page with very little content and nothing unque).

Excel Help Page (leads direct to a form to fill out for consultany)

VBA Excel Tips (Doorway page).

This appears to be a blantant case of "personal revenge".

Re: Status check please.

You will find a few places in these fora where people are told just the same thing you have been told here - this is not some conspiracy due to "run-ins" with editors. When the top level of a site is listed, it is highly unlikely that a subpart of that site will get listed in a related category. The reason for this is that it is reasonable to suppose that users will be able to navigate to that subpart from the main listing.

Please note the item in the forum charter:
This forum is not intended for site analysis [..]. Please avoid discussing any aspect of the site except its submission status. "Rejected and not likely to be accepted anywhere" is a reasonable status.

Thank you.

Re: Status check please.

Ok, so explain why these made it in then?

Power Utility Pak v5, The Spreadsheet Page (in Spreadsheets and Excel-Add-ins)

VBA Bookmarks (In Excel and VBA)

Elcom, Ltd. & Elcomsoft (same comany both in password recovery)

LostPassword.com & MSOfPas97 & MSOfPas97 - (same sites all in password recovery)

PasswordRecoveryTools & AccentSoft Utilities (same sites all in password recovery)

ExcelFIX is listed in excel-data recovery and excel-password recovery

Macro Systems (listed in Spreadsheets & Spreadsheets-Excel)

PasswordNow & Lastbit (both in password recovery are are the same company)

The list could go on, but hopefully this will be enough.

Please see the forum charter I quoted above. Entering into discussions like this is against the charter.

I can now see why. BTW, you started the "discussions like this" not me.

Re: Status check please.

Just for the record, the same editor who was nice enough to bypass protocol to change your URL and move it to the Excel category is also the one who decided your deeplink wasn't listable in the subcategory. So it's hardly a case of "personal revenge".

There may well be other sites that have inappropriate deeplinks listed in parent and child categories -- those will be taken care of as we find them. For right now, though, this thread is just about ozgrid.com, not any of the other sites.

Re: Status check please.

Hi Motsa

I'm sincerely grateful that my site URL was finally changed after years of trying. Not sure I can say the same about the speed-up of the knocking back of our free Excel help forum though :(

I fully understand that DMOZ has its rules, it is just VERY frustrating to be 'fast tracked' and then knocked back, especially when there are so many others sites in more than 2 categories under Excel and many of which are doorway pages etc.

This whole process has/is a learning experience for me. What are my options to appeal the decision that my Excel help forum is not suitable for the Excel>Help category?

Is it possible for me to get my site (or page(s)of ) listed in a category that is not directly under Excel? Or would I be wasting my time?

Re: Status check please.

Sorry. We don't list deeplinks like that in a child category when the main site is listed in the parent category. The forum is just a part of your site and your site is already listed appropriately.

No, I wouldn't bother trying to submit deeplinks of the site to other categories. I see nothing in ozgrid's site map that would warrant deeplinking somewhere else.

Ok, it's now nearly 4 weeks later than when I was told my site update would occur.

Re: Status check please.

In many posts it has been explained that the public server at dmoz.org is running an old version of the ODP database. Your site has been changed (see previous answers) some time ago.
