Pagerank woes

Hello,

I have installed the google toolbar and have been wondering what the pagerank for my site will be. I waited about a month at PR0 and then I ran my site through a server diagnostic tool and found out that my IP was blocklisted, apparently someone at my server had been a spammer/pornographer etc. So I changed to a new server and obtained a dedicated IP address. That was over a month ago. I am waiting for my submission to ODP to be reviewed but googlebot has indexed my site. My pagerank is still 0. Im wondering if there is still a problem I dont know about. Any advice or info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, -Dan

Pagerank is something to do with Google.

We are not Google.

You need the advice of some forum that does Google stuff, such as webmasterworld, searchengineforums, ihelpyouservices, and so on.

However, the word on the street is that the toolbar has been messed up for months, and you can't rely on what it might or might not be telling you. So, rather than fret about PR, or how long it takes to be listed in search engines and directories, you should spend your time doing things that improve the site instead. You have no control over the other stuff, not even the merest whiff of influence, so I'd quit worrying about it.

I agree with giz about the other forums. webmasterworld is one that I use. As for PR, yes the toolbar has been a bit flakey, but in checking your site I noticed that there is only one backlink associated with it. There are a lot of things taken in to account when Google calculates a PR for a page, but a big part is the PR of sites linking to your site. Content is also key.

Hope this helps. Try webmasterworld. There is a lot of good info there.
