Over 1.5 years ago, our site was banned. I was wondering if I can submit a re-inclusion request?

I strongly believe that our site is a good source for internet users; much more so than the sites currently within the respective category.

Do you know for a fact that it was banned, not just still waiting to be reviewed or rejected for lack of unique content? Many sites wait longer than that to be reviewed, it doesn't mean anything other than we haven't gotten to them yet. Very few sites are banned outright, and it is against ODP policy to tell site owners their site has been banned.

I have only seen two types of sites be banned: Extremely aggressive repeat submitters, and webmasters attempting to bribe editors.

I think (from an editors' perspective) this was a "bait and switch" situation, which is absolutely the nastiest thing possible to do to a directory. combined with misleading entity information.

It may have been seen as a bait and switch; but it was not the case. However, it was 100% my fault (no editors or webmasters called T-Boar) that it appeared to be an unethical move.

All lessons have been learnt; 100 times over. Given the time that has passed (over 1.5 years or more I think); is their any re-consideration process available? :)

re: "repeat submitters, and webmasters attempting to bribe editors"
- i am guilty of repeat posting (it's more of an yearly thing these days)
- never bribed

You'll notice that the sentence you're quoting is one editor's description of what they've seen, not an exhaustive list of reasons why a site won't be listed. You already know why the site you're wondering about won't be listed.

is their any re-consideration process available?
I'd say no in the case of the site you're talking about since nothing at all appears to have changed in relation to it from our point of view. That's the same answer you were given last year when you last asked about it.

"since nothing at all appears to have changed in relation to it from our point of view"

We provide: business card printing, brochure design, web design and flash design as oppose to just logos. Our work is much better then 95% of the sites within the respective category. We provided work for fortune 500 companies and yet; to be re-considered in a public directory is un-imaginable.

I apologize for the entire mix-up, but we are a legit company and "bait and switch" is not in our agenda. Is there a neutral mod I can make request to?

If a site is resubmitted following a rejection when it is looked at again by an editor, which could be any time from a day to several years, the reasons for a previous rejection are always reconsidered independently by the reviewing editor. Previously rejected or excluded sites can be listed if those rejection reasons are no longer applicable. That is the appeal process. Something substantive must have happened inbetween the rejection and the next time it is reconsidered in order for a previous decision to be reversed. There is no other appeals process.

Where can I send my request? I believe we have substantial reason to be re-listed; should I send it to the editor of the category?

Just suggest the site in the most appropriate category and add the reason why it could be relisted between [ ] in the description field.

There's only one mechanism for bringing a site to an editor's attention when he's likely to be interested in reviewing it -- the "suggest a site" link. It gives us all the help we think we can get from you -- and since the purpose is to help us find sites, we don't need any other mechanism.
