password trouble in requesting reinstatement

Hello, apparently my editorship of the Logo category has recently lapsed:

http://dmoz.org/Computers/Programming/Languages/Lisp/Logo/

I had been editing this category with the username wpetti. (I know I made an update soon after the technical difficulties were resolved sufficiently to allow editors access in mid-January, so I must have just exceeded the 4-month limit by a few days.)

My trouble is that when I attempt to submit my reinstatement request, I am given an error message:

"Your password does not match our records. This may be the fault of our records. Please request a password reminder."

This surprises me, because I have kept a record of my password and I am sure of it, and I retyped it to make sure it was not a keyboarding error. When I then attempted to request a password reminder, I received a new error message:

"Sorry, we cannot issue a password reminder to you at this time. Please post in our unofficial public forums to ask for help, or contact a meta editor."

So, here I am, asking for help!

Thank you,
W. Petti

Yes, your account timed out.

The error messages show that the password system has a problem with your account. I've just asked it to propagate the password on record around all of the servers. Try again in a day's time and let us know what happens in this same thread.

If you still have problems, we'll poke a Systems Engineer.

I've gone through the same steps (after waiting 24+ hours as you instructed) and received the same error messages. Thank you for your help so far; I guess it's time to poke the Systems Engineer...

Thank you. In the meantime, this morning, I tried several other possible passwords to no avail, and then feeling silly, I just hit the reinstatement request button without entering any password at all... and my request went through!!! So this means that the password on record at this point apparently is no password at all. Clearly this is a different problem that needs to be fixed, unless my password was temporarily deactivated along with my user name...?

Hello,

i've the same problem with my username: andretna

I tried the reinstate and told me the password doesn't match.
I tried to get a new password but told me the system can't send it.
Please help me.

I've reported it, andretna. As Jim said above, it could be a few days.

I've been having the same problem submitting a reinstatement request. My username is drjlange, and it would not recognize my password, and when I tried the request for a reminder it sent me here, saying it could not send me one.

So I just tried the reinstatement form without a password and sure enough it took it.

andretna, the issue with your account should be solved by now according to tech staff. I have asked the system to send you a password reminder.
