I have made multiple attempts, over many months to submit our site www.mmprint.com into the DMOZ directory. I have never received any word on the status of inclusion. Is there something I am doing wrong? Any advice would be appreciated.

Please read the [thread=396]forum guidelines[/thread] before posting here. We need a clickable link to the dmoz.org category. Typically you will not receive a response via email for submitting a site.

No No No. We do not require a link on your site in order to get listed.

We need to you to tell us in this thread the link to the category where you submitted your site.

The submission in that category, and a few others for that URL have been deleted as duplicate submissions. One submission for that URL is left and now awaits review in [cat]Business/Publishing_and_Printing/Printing/Products/Commercial_Printing/United_States/New_York/[/cat] . Please do not resubmit the URL.

I would like to change the category where my site review is pending. I feel the category of new york is limited becasue we provide services nationwide. The majority of our sales are generated online. Please see what you can do to place us in the following category, it would be greatly appreciated.

http://dmoz.org/Business/Publishing_and_Printing/Printing/Products/Buying_Online/

Also, can you please let me know if I am at fault regarding my submissions, I hear of people who simply apply to be listed and have no problem. I have been trying to get into just one category for over 4 months. Can you offer any advice?

Thanks in advance.

We don't generally move unreviewed submissions -- we leave that to the auspices of the reviewing editors who take an in-depth look at the site and determine its ultimate placement.

Four months is, in ODP terms, a very short wait period. Waits can, and do, exceed two years in categories that are very spammy, prone to abuse and have huge backlogs. Much of the Business/ tree is that way. So the best thing you can do is patiently wait, checking back every six months for a follow-up status check.

According to http://editors.dmoz.org/Business/Publishing_and_Printing/Printing/Products/Buying_Online/desc.html Business/Publishing_and_Printing/Printing/Products/Buying_Online only accepts sites that include prices. It sounds like a Shopping category and I would not be surprised if we moved it to Shopping. All the subcategories are Shopping categories.

Since you only provide forms for estimates and not actual prices, it would not be the right category for your site anyway.

I don't think that the sites in http://dmoz.org/Business/Publishing...ts/Commercial_Printing/United_States/New_York are supposed to be limited to sites that serve only New York customers. It's just that we have so many sites we had to divide them in some way. We chose the location of the office as the best way.

I did not realize 4 months was common much less a short period of time, my appologies. The ODP must received many thousands if inquiries per day, so I will await approval. Just to clarify, is there anything I need to do at this point or will my listing eventually be positioned in the proper category pending review?

Best Regards,

Cliff;

No problems, your is a common misunderstanding. We have about 10,000 active editors and more than a million sites sitting in various submission pools, so none of us can claim we having nothign to do in our spare time.

Waiting patiently is a good thing.

Remember too, that ODP puts a major premium on what we call "unique content" (stuff that cannot be found anywhere else on the web), so while you are patiently waiting, taking the time to continue to add unique content and making sure that even an old, decrepit editor such as myself can find it, is a very, very good thing.

Only by either browsing the category on a periodic basis, or by asking here on a semi-annual basis.

Fixed a few problems, why so long?

To help in the long awaitied review of our website, we have fixed a few broken links and updated 2 undercontruction pages which hopefully was the reason for delay.

Please let me know.

It was likely not the reason for the delay, but anything you do to improve the quality of your website is usually a very good thing.
