Can someone please assist me? I am feeling some major pressure from my management to fix something for a client site. :( The search engine results are pulling a DMOZ summary of content that is years old and extremely outdated, how can this be repaired?

Thanks!

There is a NOODP meta-tag that can be used to remove ODP descriptions from Google. See Google for a description of it.

If the description is wrong then, when the update url facility is available , use that to update the listing. There is also a Quality Thread on this forum somewhere.

If your boss holds you responsible for the uncontrollable priorities of anonymous volunteers, you might like to consider getting a new boss :) .

Years old and extremely outdated, a very popular description of the odp these days.
It's funny the internet is growing at a constant pace and thee odp seems to be shrinking. What is it lack of content or corruption.
I'll bet on corruption.

You unequivocal lack of responsibility in this matter only goes to reinforce the ant "OPD" movement going on.
I know you are volunteers and all, but give me a break.
When I volunteer my time to the Red Cross I am OBLIGED to show up at a certain place at a certain time.
If I cannot meet these responsibilities I would be discharged immediately.
What makes you any different??
In your adult section you have very questionable crap. Adults that look like minors or minors???
You all at least take a good look at yourselves and decide whether or not this is an altruistic dedication of your time? or just a from for your less than savory motives. HUTCH??

I'm sick and tired of people comparing volunteering with the ODP with volunteering at places like the Red Cross, especially when you do it without having done at least a minor amount of research here in this forum for other threads in which people have done the same thing. For crying out loud, people. Get a grip. It's a Web directory. That's it, that's all.

theantiguru, if you've got nothing better to do with your time than to bitch about the ODP, I'll thank you to please go somewhere else to do it. I'm sure you won't have trouble finding somewhere suitable.

But, you see, YOU'RE the only one not taking responsibility for his own job. My manager doesn't see anything at all wrong with me not working on the ODP, so long as I take responsibility for what I agreed to do.

It's the same at the ODP. You might get fired a dozen times over, all the while every single ODP volunteer was living up to expectations.
