Since about 2 years we are trying to get listed in the ODP.

I tried to list a page PowerFolder (no url hope mentioning the name is ok since perhaps some editor can use that as a reference to find some information).

We tried to submit it from time to time we have been always waiting a few month before we tried to relist it.

We always failed

When we tried to contact an editor by the on page contact form we got an proxy error.

When we tried to write an email to the staff email it returned.(inbox full)

We understand that you have a lot of unpaid work to do and we understand that not everyone can get listed, but we did not even got an rejection message. And of course you get flodded by millions of spam mails but please help us.

We think we made everything right:
We followed the rules on he add.html
We followed the rules on the submit page itself.

Please just help us to get this page listed or at least let us know why we do not get listed.

Thank you very much for your time and attention.

Your error probably was in what you thought "submission" was, and how you measured "success."

You probably thought "submission" meant "an action to ensure immediate placement in the directory" and "failure" was measured by whether an immediate listing followed.

But a "site suggestion" merely makes a site available for editors who wish to review sites on a particular subject. It doesn't start a "timer", it doesn't impose a "deadline", it doesn't guarantee a LISTING, EVER -- it only guarantees a REVIEW, SOMETIME.

So there's no reason to suppose that your suggestion failed. Probably it accomplished its intended purpose, the only purpose it could accomplish.

Because in the end, the suggestion has nothing to do with getting a site listed. All that gets a site listed is unique content on the site.

Sometime an editor will review the site (in fact, perhaps has already reviewed it) and will thank you for your help (if it is a helpful suggestion) or perhaps roll eyes at yet another useless suggestion (if it isn't helpful.)

Dear hutcheson

Thank you very much for your fast reply, i know its not your job but may I ask you for something?
May i send you a pm with the url and you take a very short look at the page and tell me if this is page is acceptable in general?

Independent from this: do you know what is wrong with the contact form to contact the editors of a category? is this disabled or is this broken?

Regarding your first point, please DO NOT pm your URL to an editor here.

It is broken. But only a little. Sometimes it shows an error message. But the mail is always delivered.
That ebing said. There is no reason to contact an editor. Editors are advised not to answer such emails. To many bad experiences in the past has taught us to ignore emails asking about websites and their status in DMOZ.

You've already set a message with the URL (when you suggested the site.) THAT message will go to the RIGHT editor, someone interested and knowledgeable in the specific subject. You have no reason to believe I have any interest or knowledge of your subject. (The same is true of motsa, or anyone else who posts here.)

Sending self-interested electronic communications to people, when you have no reason to believe they'd be interested, is called "spamming." Enough said?
