Hello,

I am doing all the preparation work to submit www.loversplanet.com.

Title:
Loversplanet.com - real people, serious relationships.

The description is:
Dating and personals website focused exclusively on beautiful women from Russia and Ukraine who are sincerely willing to establish serious relationships with foreign individuals.

1. I did quite a bit of research and concluded that most of our competitors are in http://dmoz.org/Society/Relationships/Dating/Personals/International/ - but this category does not have "suggest URL" link - what should I do? I have read somewhere on this forum that I can submit to a parent category (in my case the nearest is Society: Relationships: Dating), but in the guidelines it is stated that personals sites should only be submitted to appropriate subcategory.

2. The only subcategory that has some sort of similarity with what loversplanet.com is about and has a "suggest URL" link is http://dmoz.org/Society/Relationships/Dating/Personals/Regional/

but the long-term mission of the website is to become trully international. Even though majority of women personals will initially come from Russia and Ukraine, male members will be from a great variety of countries. The management also anticipate launching Loversplanet.com UK shortly. Can this website be eligible for inclusion in http://dmoz.org/Society/Relationships/Dating/Personals/International/ subcategory?

3. If so, where should I submit bearing in mind point 1 above.

Many thanks for your time and advice.

Do not submit a site based on what it may or may not have in the future; only what is on the site "right now."

As for http://dmoz.org/Society/Relationships/Dating/Personals/International/ , do you notice the list of letters at the top? The one that's all links. You'll find that http://dmoz.org/Society/Relationships/Dating/Personals/International/L/ does have a "Suggest URL" link.

Simply find the category you feel is the best fit and submit there. If you're wrong, an editor will move it to the correct category.

Thank you for your help, wrathchild!

I don't understand how I could have missed the existence of letters at the top - probably good time to stop working for today.

Thanks again

I do the same thing all the time for some reason  - I totally see the alphabar, and it totally doesn't go into my brain that I should click on a letter.

Maybe someone could edit the category description along the lines of "Find the single most appropriate category for your site, by the first letter of your company name" ...

I agree, that would be helpful. After reading all the guidelines you become too focused on doing everything right. And in the guidelines you are told to submit your site only in one suitable category and where there is a "suggest URL" link. The importance of this is quite clear so you look out for that link and when you don't find it you really don't see any other options. The guidelines affect your thinking creativity. )
