I MOVED THIS FROM THE SUBMISSION STATUS FORUM THINKING IT WASN'T APPROPRIATE TO TROUBLESHOOT IN THAT DIRECTORY. Does anyone have additional helpful thoughts? Is it time to resubmit? Or is there a more appropriate way to contact the editor?

Hello,
I posted http://www.roommatenation.com
to http://dmoz.org/Home/Apartment_Living/Roommates/
about one month ago and was hoping we could find out what the status is. Thank you in advance for the help!

It was rejected as being a mirror of an already listed site.

That's terrible news as this was purely accidental. I hope this forum is the place to ask this question, but what can I do to fix this?
http://www.roommatenation.com is our public website.
http://www.partylocal.com was merely our development site where we were testing our product. Once we had www.roommatenation.com up and running, we simply redirected partylocal to roommatenation. If either were to be considered a mirror, it would be partylocal mirroring roommatenation (though it is really a redirect).
What is the best action to take for getting our site listed on DMOZ? We certainly weren't trying to play any games and in fact never even submitted the partylocal site. The spiders found it on their own.
Thanks for the help, this was a big surprise for us.

(1) Make sure the OLD URL is redirected to the new URL (301 redirection is best; meta-tag works fine when the editor checks it.
(2) make sure the site's self-appellation is the New URL.
(3) make an "update URL" request on the OLD url, mentioning that you think the URL should be changed (and give the new URL in the comments field)

The spiders found it on their own.
They have a tendency to do that. Putting up test sites you don't want the world to see is fraught with difficulties. In increasing order of "safety" and effort needed to do so, try these things in future:
1. Ban all robots in the test site's robots.txt -- that stops most well-behaved spiders;
2. Add an extra meta header on every page to request "noindex, nofollow" -- that stops the well-behaved robots who only recheck robots.txt every couple of days;
3. Password protect the site -- that should stop every unwanted visitor.

I really appreciate everyone's help here. Having done my best to respect DMOZ and do everything right it seems that things didn't go quite right.
If you'll read in the above post, neither of the sites that I mentioned have been listed in DMOZ yet. Should I resubmit at this point with our formal URL of www.roommatenation.com? I tried doing an "update Url" but since neither of the sites have been listed in the directory yet, that didn't work.
I certainly don't want to make the editor feel like s/he is getting spammed. There is no way to simply email the person to clarify any confusion is there? We actually took down our development site (www.partylocal.com) so there is only one incarnation of RoommateNation on the web right now.
Sorry for the long post, I really do appreciate your help. Still learning the etiquete...and ways...of DMOZ...
