Hello.

Ill make this brief.

My editorial status was removed. I couldn't really give a hoot. Its your loss imo.

What I find disturbing is my profile remains in your system.

What I ask of you is to remove this.

An analogy by way of explanation: Picture a huge encyclopedia. Imagine that it has a list of contributors, with a profile of each one. When a contributor leaves the project (whether by his own choice or that of the publishers) his name will remain on the list of those who contributed.

I've used this analogy before to explain why our front page says over seventy thousand editors even though only around seven thousand are still active. It's just as apt for the profiles of the contributors as for their number.

Well I think its barking, much like the way you deal with Editors current and past.

Ill make some script to bombard my profile, hopefully that may make you change your mind..

Barking? Is that a british term?

For what it's worth, I tend to agree that the links to categories on the profile should be removed, but the profile itself should remain unless otherwise objectionable.

I tried to get my picture and info removed from our High School yearbook because the picture was geeky and the write up said I was going to become a priest. I guess I am forever "a marked man" (and geeky)!

Why not threaten a DOS attack on your yearbook publisher?

On the other hand, you would probably end up in jail. :p

(Oh I just realized who posted that, he claims to have another editor account in some SEO forum, maybe if he tells us which one, we could remove them both)

I'll forever be remembered for the "candid" picture of me glaring daggers at the yearbook photographer who'd been dogging me for months. :D

Im just a little baffled as to why you wish to keep profiles of exiled editors in your system.

As for me claiming to have another editor account, surely you could answer that one, you seem to have all the answers and solutions, so if I do have another editor account, feel free to close them all. I wont tell you either way, surely that spoils the fun!

Analogies irritate me, why someone would be compelled to use analogies in these circumstances is ludicrous.

ODP is not an encyclopedia, Wiki has that covered. The ODP is a directory.. a directory! Paint it how you like, at the end of the day, it lists sites. Thats about it. No one could care who the editors are, what they look like, and what their website is (profile information). As far as 'Joe Public' is concerned, they want to see good quality sites in a logical order. (I wont get started on this, i could go on for weeks.)

All I ask is for a reason, a legible, valid, and unquestionable reason for keeping profile pages online. I mean ;) the site I have on my profile is no longer my site, the picture I posted isnt of me, hence keeping that live is a criminal act. At the end of the day, I really couldnt give a toss, I just dont understand your logic, and it isn't the first time!

Seems to me that this conversation has ground to an impasse because no matter what threats ex editor mrleroy issues, we won't be removing his profile. Closing.
