Website: http://www.searchboss.com.

I want this in DMOZ's Pay per Click Search Engine category.

I don't want to specify any more information in here, please visit the website for more details and it is pretty neat and self explanatory.

Thanks.

Regards,

I'm not clear what you are asking here - have you made a submission to the ODP? Are you chekcing on the status of your submission? Or are you asking an editor to look at the site and just add it? This last is not the purpose of this forum - please make a submission in the normal way.

I added the website through add you site 2 weeks ago and for some reason it is not listed as well, my user account got deleted and was claimed i was spaming. I didn't do any spam or intent to spam, but i'm definetely confused now, 'cause i thought i have to submit the website as well i have to put this in the forum also.

Please advise.

OK, that's progress.

now, a few comments:
1. We ask enquirers to give us a clickable link to the category you submitted your site to, we can take a look and see if it's awaiting review in there.

2. You will not see a site that you have submitted until an editor reviews it.

3. There are no accounts in the ODP which you could get deleted from, so I'm not sure what your are referring to (unless you mean that you were an editor).

4. Submitting a web site is all you have to do to get a URL to be reviewed - this site is meant as a service to users so they can interact with the editors.

Now, to the URL you mentioned. It has been reviewed several times since January of 2002, at first it got listed in the category you mentioned, but then got reviewed again (we often re-review sites as we pass through) and removed because it did not meet our guidelines for sites that we will post, both due to affiliate content and content mirrored from other listed sites.

Based on the opinions of the editors that reviewed the site, I'm afraid to say that your site in it's current form is unlistable in the ODP.

So my advice is to look for other ways of promoting your site other than achieving a listing in the ODP.

Or maybe I've read more into this than there really is to read.

I came to the same conclusions as John_Caius, and can see from the editor history of this site that it has been reviewed numerous times and will not be listed if content remains the same.

Just curious - what's actually wrong with the content of this guy's site? Looks harmless enough...

I don't think anyone accused the site of being a virus-vector or browser-killer. I think the issue was rather in the matter of unique content, in which it was deemed deficient.

I don't understand the following.

Quote from Editor:

both due to affiliate content and content mirrored from other listed sites

Response:

In your odp itself still i see millions of Doorway websites got listed and additionally as i mentioned before we are PPC Search Engine and in the industry before the time you specified here, we don't use any one's copyrighted content or have to use any copyrighted content of others.

This seems a very narrowed reason.

Pay-per-click and affiliate links are one and the same thing to us. It is explained very clearly in the ODP guidelines why this type of site is not listed in the ODP. Continued debate of the subject is non-productive and violates the guidelines of this forum.

Thanks.

>>we don't use any one's copyrighted content or have to use any copyrighted content of others.

It's worth mentioning this, not because it addresses the point at all (which it doesn't) but to emphasize something about ODP procedures.

WE ARE NOT THE COPYRIGHT POLICE!

We don't try to determine what is copyrighted, or by whom. We typically list the first site we find with that content. If the real copyright owner has a problem -- it's not with us, it's with the offending site. They can legally have that site taken down. Then there won't be anything to have an ODP listing -- so we'd take the listing down... not because it's a copyright violator, but because it's no longer there.

Please, don't tell us about copyright issues. We are not lawyers, and we're not responsible.

And we can't express, and won't express, an opinion on the legality or ethics of duplicated content...we just say it's not useful for our users, and don't list it.

Really. I don't want to continue with you anymore 'cause you are not the only editor for dmoz.

You are correct. Nor am I the editor that made the decision on whether to list the site - that was another editor. And I'm not any of the other editors who have told you in this forum that the site is not listable.

I will certainly respect your request as far as me not responding to you any more. I'm sorry the answer isn't what you wanted; I was only trying to explain the ODP's policies abd guidelines.

Several people who could easily have said "yeah, the site is listable" have avoided saying so. It's not listable as is.
