Despite my appreciation for the best, I am unhappy with DMOZ. My website is not included during last four years. My website is very popular in many communities and enjoys dozens of links from independent resources. My website belongs to miscellaneous category. It is my personal website which provides many services, products and offers. It might belong to a General category, Personal websites category, miscellaneous services category, multi-services portal etc. Please suggest best possible category for my website! Please tell me number of words title, description and keywords should have.

Just pick the one best category for it and suggest it there. If it's not the right place, the reviewing editor will send it to the right place. Personal homepages sounds like it is probably a good choice.

As for your other questions, the instructions on the page you see when you click "suggest URL" in the category you pick answer those questions.

worldangel, you've asked a difficult question. Nothing you said about your site would have anything at all to do with how it would be categorized. Nothing suggested that it would be a value to surfers if it were listed, although some of what you said, ("personal site" ... "offers and products" suggested it shouldn't be listed at all.

Here's what you can do.

(1) Divide the site's content into two parts. Part 1 would be the "offers and products" that are also offered at other websites. Part 2 would be everything else.

(2) Ask yourself if, looking at the site, a REVIEWER would get the idea that the site was primarily created for those Part 1 non-unique offers and products--(or if they comprise most of the site's contents. If "yes", STOP, the site is not listable.

(3) Otherwise, completely ignore the Part 1 stuff: that's what a reviewer will do. Look at all the OTHER content on the site. Is there a specific topic at the center of it? If so, the site could be reviewed for listing in that topic (in the most specific category that fits.)

(4) If the site contains UNIQUE offers -- that is, products and services not available elsewhere on the web, that you yourself produce and/or serve, then a category somewhere in "Shopping" would be the most likely place. There are "Gifts" and "General Merchandise" categories there. And there are some "Services" categories under "Computers", if the "offers" are of services you yourself do. And STOP: the site would probably not be considered for listing elsewhere.

(5) If there IS no specific topic, or only a very general topic (such as "music I like" or "politicians I hate", and it's mostly not about the business that your hands and minds operate, then the site could be reviewed for some "Personal Websites" category. There are topical "Personal Sites" categories in many of the major categories, e.g., Music, various Religious, Ethnic or Political categories. If your site isn't centered around your interests as a member of some such group, then there is the generic "Personal Sites" category in "Society".

As you know best what kind of products you'll be producing, or personality traits you'll be confessing, your site will get a much quicker review if you can walk through this process and find a close fit.

And don't worry about if you get the wrong category--an editor can move the suggestion to the right category. And no need to ask about the category beforehand--the editors perform this kind of analysis on all suggestions, without anyone having to ask.
