Please suggest

Hi

Though the volunteer editors at Domz have done an incredible job of compiling such a list, I find that some of the categories are totally unattended. I tried submitting a link in the category (Regional > Asia > India > Business and Economy > Legal Services) a couple of months back but then i wasn't successful in getting it listed yet.

Today after 6 months when i revisited this page, i was shocked to see that the last update was on Tuesday, January 2, 2007 10:05:25 PM EST

Is this because there wasn’t any deserving websites found for this category in the last 3.5 years or whether there wasn't any editors for this category?

You might have misunderstood our objectives and how we operate here. ODP is a volunteer organisation building a directory as a hobby. Editors edit where they wish, when they wish and as much as they wish within the constraints of their permissions. We have no schedules or systems to force people to do work that they don't volunteer to do.

If none of our thousands of editors is interested in doing work in a category, then the category will lie fallow until one is (link checking robots excepted).

Incidentally, individual Indian law firms would be listed in their localities, not at national level.

I had tried many times to be listed on Dmoz but always failed. I could not understand what they want to be submitted.

Why would you do that when our Suggestion Guidelines (which you agreed you'd read on each occasion) require that you suggest your site just the once?

Some volunteer will process your listing suggestion in time but we can't predict who or when that might be. Elapsed times can range from a few days to a few years. There is no need to re-suggest your website and doing so could be counter-productive because a later suggestion overwrites any earlier one.

That date is incorrect - there is some screw-up somewhere. That same date is all over the place for some reason.

I used to edit in that area, and the problem is that there are/were hundreds of unreviewed in the pool of sites for Bali. Apparently few editors care to edit in that otherwise popular place, so the sites just pile up. In just a few months hundreds of suggestions are received, and it takes a huge effort for anyone to wade through all of those. If you really want your site to be listed, then volunteer to list yours as well as others. If you get accepted, then start to fill in the sites that should be there including your own. If you make a mistake, not to worry as there are many senior editors who will hasten to correct your errors.

Btw, nobody will give you feedback as that is something very few editors do or want to do.
