Poor quality in NSW Photographers section

Hi there,

Id like to highlight the poor quality of the directory listings in the DMOZ section: Business > Arts and Entertainment > Photography > Photographers > Wedding and Events > Oceania > Australia > New South Wales

There are several sites that are either:

-not actually in NSW (a state of Australia)
-not wedding or events photographers at all
-not recent eg one site hasn't been updated since 2002

Worse, one site is a fake directory site with google adwords links.

It makes me quite angry when I try and list my legitimate NSW-based wedding photography site in DMOZ and it gets rejected.

Is someone actually editing this category? Is there anything being done to monitor or update these websites?

Did you submit an 'Update URL' on those sites that should not be there. Thats the quickest way to help editors identify problems.

Specifically, we'd like to know which ones are not located in NSW, which ones don't do wedding photography and which one is the "fake directory site" - those need to be dealt with asap. I took a quick look through the category to see if there were obvious ones there, I'm sure other editors are doing the same, but another set of eyes with a different perspective would be helpful.

As for sites not having been updated in a long while, when it comes to sites for businesses, this is not something that we will tend to do anything about. It's a different matter for certain other types of sites, though.

Thanks for your continuing help.

If a photography website is not getting updated every 4-6 months,it's probably dead. We rely on our portfolios.

That is not our call to make.

We are not the website police.

If a business website does not keep up, its business will suffer, but so long as there is content, it is listable.
