Poorly submitted URL, any way to fix?

I submitted my very first URL to the Open Directory one week ago.

Since then, I have done lots of reading and wading through Editor guidelines and such. This has led to an alarming discovery: the site description I provided for my URL is abominable by ODP guidelines. Further wading has brought to my attention that non-adhering-to-guideline site descriptions can severely hamper a URL's admittance into the ODP.

Luckily, I am sure that I submitted it to the correct category. Is there some way I can modify my submitted URL's site description? From what I've gathered through reading the threads, re-submitting is taboo. Will I have to simply grin and bear it as an editor grimaces at my horrible site description and relegates the url to the "Admit in 2 Years" bin?

Do the editors rework the provided site description to match the guidelines? Or will I have to wait for the 6-month mark to get it right?

All help and comments are appreciated!

Pretty well every time :) .

However, if you'd like to resuggest the same URL to the same category, it will overwrite the previous one. We won't shoot you for doing that.

Thanks for reading the guidelines - few do and even fewer attempt to conform.

Thank you for prompt reply.

I've come up with one more question which hadn't occurred to me before: The "official" title of my site features brackets. It is repeated like that throughout my site.

[Dive Active]

Like that. Are the brackets considered extraneous, and better left off in the submitted site title? I've been browsing through the ODP and cannot find any other sites that have interesting symbols in their title.

Thanks for your concern and care to give the maximum help possible. And sometimes that will even result in a quicker site review.

Well shoot! Since you actually read the directions and all, you may as well apply to be an editor! :)

Seriously, is there a little subcategory you might have an interest in? Maybe something in your hometown or about your favorite sea mammal or something?

Well, I did want to be an editor for the category I submitted to, but in the editor application you have to list 2 or 3 sites that you would submit to the category.

And for the life of me, I can't find any others, or atleast, any others that are up to snuff. All the sites that I know are already listed.

There is such a thing as a category that is too *small* for a new editor. If you can't find any sites to add, there wouldn't be anything for you to do if you were the editor. If you have a hobby outside of work it is often better to start editing there. I, personally, started with my favorite TV show, and I now edit in a variety of differnt categories.
