Problem with English grammar

When I get a mail, after my application was rejected.
I read the mail carefully.
The second point mentions 'Improper spelling and grammar'

I pity myself as well as those who are little weak in grammar.

I just want to enquire the following:
Suppose Sachin Tendulkar (The best batsman ever) wants to edit the category Sports/Cricket . Will his application be rejected? I am just enquiring because Sachin Tendulkar failed in his 10th class. And is very weak in English. Well right now he might have learnt good English. But there are lots of cricket players who don't know English.

It is expected that editors have a basic understanding of spelling and grammar - it doesn't matter who they are. If English is not your first language then you can apply to edit in the World category for the language that you know.

Also, remember that being a good cricketer and being a good editor of the cricket category are not necessarily mutually inclusive. The most experienced dmoz editors edit in plenty of categories that they are not necessarily personally knowledgeable about - appraising sites for content and features doesn't necessarily require a deep understanding of that content.

Well thank you for the information. After being rejected number of times and if the person continues to apply, one day person will get enough knowledge of English, which I think will be enough for getting approved.

I would strongly suggest that your first editing category be in your native tongue - there are enough complexities in the ODP to worry about without the disadvantage of trying to edit in a language with which you are not 100% comfortable.

That having been said, your english is far, far better than my knowledge of your tongue, so please don't take this as a criticism. :)

Oh! Do you think my English is better? If it is so, then thanks to those who have been declining my applications. :) It has helped me improve my English to some extent.
