Problems with DMOZ

I submitted my site to DMOZ over two months ago and it's still not listed. The listing instructions specifically say NOT to resubmit or my site will not be considered. Additionally, I think it is VERY unprofessional of you folks to not be accessible by phone. I've been in business all my life and people who do serious business do it by phone and in meetings - not by email or by this kind of public forum which is childish at best. AOL says they are not allowed to give out contact names or phone numbers, and this is the only method that I can find to get in touch with whoever it is who administers the DMOZ project. So - are you willing to become a bit more professional and allow me to contact you by phone? All you have to do is send me a phone number with the contact person's name by email and I will do the rest.

First, I deleted the duplicate posts that you made of this same exact thread. There is no need to start the same thread in three different places.

The ODP is mainly run by volunteer editors. I don't like people calling me to try to sell me something, I'm certainly not posting my phone number for submittors to call. ;) I think you are confused about what the ODP is.

The purpose of the ODP is to serve the end user--those using the data we add. It is not, and never has been, to serve the webmaster. People are allowed to submit suggestions, that is all they are. We encourage editors to add quality sites they themselves find also--it isn't about processing suggestions. It's great that we are able to serve those who submit their sites for consideration, but that isn't the reason we are here. If it is about time and promoting your site, there are lots of paid options out there. ODP offers a free service. I've made close to 50,000 edits and have made not one penny for my time, same with the other editors out here. We do this because we want to add quality sites for those who surf the web to see.

The Open Directory was founded in the spirit of the Open Source movement, and is the only major directory that is 100% free. There is not, nor will there ever be, a cost to submit a site to the directory, and/or to use the directory's data. The Open Directory data is made available for free to anyone who agrees to comply with our free use license.

We are not about promoting sites for others. It's great that we are able to help others out in that way, but it is not our purpose. If you have an urgent need for promotion, then my suggestion would be to check into paid avenues for listings. It also depends on how many editors are active or have an interest in a given area. Those who edit do so for free, so we of course cannot force anyone to edit where they are not interested. For this reason, and others, there are a lot of factors that weigh into how long it takes for a site to be reviewed. There is honestly no way to tell you how long it may take. Two months time isn't very long at all, and even if you could contact someone by phone it wouldn't make a difference.

Listings are free, volunteer editors look at each and every site before listing any of them. No sites are guaranteed inclusion. If time is of the essence my suggestion would be to pursue paid avenues of promotion.

http://resource-zone.com/forum/faq.php? may be of help as to how long it takes to be listed. If you want to check on the status of your site you can start a thread in the status section (I deleted the thread you started there which you titled "Status of www.starcrost.com" but the body of the post was the exact same paragraph as you listed in this thread), but be sure to read the guidelines for that area first so that it is properly formatted.
