I am trying to add my site but every time I click submit I get a proxy error message. I am trying to add my site to business, wholesale trade, general merchandise. Any advice would be appreciated:confused:

I've just made a test listing suggestion to Business/Wholesale_Trade/General_Merchandise using the suggest URL link at the top of its page and it worked fine for me. Is that the method you were using?

I suggest that you try again and, if there are still problems, report them in this thread with a description of exactly what you were doing and the exact error message.

Proxy error messages when trying to contact an editor are not uncommon, though the message does usually get through. AOL systems engineers are aware of the problem.

Receiving same proxy error

Hello,

I'm trying to submit to Business: Business Services: Consulting and am receiving the error:

Proxy Error
The proxy server received an invalid response from an upstream server.
The proxy server could not handle the request POST /cgi-bin/add.cgi.

Reason: Error reading from remote server

Can you help please?

Thank you!

I did read the post and had submitted my site through the suggest URL link. I received the error when I submitted the information.

I have been getting the same message for over a month I thought the directory was just full or somthing. If I have follow the directions and yes I clicked the submit URL at the top of the screen I fill out the form and enter the password but I havnt got though. I dont know much about this stuff but maybe it let you because you are and editor or admin that you were successful? Does it matter what type of internet connection or ip you use?

Thanks Patrick! I'm glad I'm not the only one receiving this error time and time again. I have been trying for months to submit our site without success.

Please Jim, can you help?

It might help if you could tell us more about your setups -- browser, operating system, etc. It would help us to figure out if there is a trend.

I am using Mozilla firefox on windows vista. I have no problems with anything when I surf the web only when I click submit at the bottom of the form then it gives me the proxy error message. Could it have anything to do with my IP or web host? My IP is a local Wireless broadband company called Cricket my web host is Freewebs.com my DNS name servers are set with them for my site. I cant find anything on their support forum about this problem and nobody else is complaining about it on there. So it is either DMOZ that has the problem or the web host in my opinion.

Your error is different from the ones mentioned in this thread -- you were trying to send an email to an editor, not suggest your site. As has been mentioned a few times here, we're aware of that issue with the editor feedback form. In most cases, your message will have made it through OK despite the error message.

I am using Internet Explorer and Windows XP Professional. Our web host is optiem.com. I receive the proxy error when I click submit on the form also.

Ok I finally got through. I used my computer at my work and it worked fine. It must be our computers or IP servers. If you know what might be stopping us on our computers please let us know. Thanks
