If you mean you're having trouble connecting with the site, it's been that way for a couple of days. It's like it's flickering, and you have to catch it at just the right moment. It's been taking me 4 or 5 tries to get in without catching a 404.

It seems that the public servers may be having more problems than usual today. Refreshing isn't working at all. I believe someone has reported the problem.

DMOZ donesn't load

I don't know why I write it here, probably nobody will even read it. Dmoz.org doesn't load for me. When I try to use different url checkers I see the same result.

I just merged your request in the existing thread, since I don't see a need to have two threads on the same topic :)

Just keep trying, you'll get in, I did, :).

I just went back in, but, it took 7 tries before it connected.

As was noted earlier, it's already been reported. Hopefully it'll be fixed soon but, as it's the weekend, I wouldn't expect that to be today. :D

A crowbar, screwdriver, seven tries, ha ha ha.

What am I missing? The unique standards people have ignored the most important and basic standard of all. I cannot bring myself to tell you what "it" is.

In a sea of developers and owners who challenge your integrity, on this matter there ought be no flippant dismissals, no mocking laughter.

It says a great deal more than I suspect any of you are able to grasp concerning this hypocrisy. Perhaps if you all were paid for your...services, you would understand why those of us who are take these matters so serious.

I have glimpsed in this, all I need to know.

Good Day

Glad you have. I can't say the same after reading your post, which makes little sense whatsoever.

I think he means he doesn't like my tool chest, or our nonchalant attitude about fixing something we don't have access to anyway. (sigh) another dissatisfied non-customer, when will we learn.

Hey, it's working fine now, one shouldn't be judged by ones tools, but by ones skills :).

Somber. He wants us all to be somber in our volunteerism, and not to have any fun.

Nose to the grindstone and all that. Hail to thee, oh micromanager!

Of course he probably think that we are at all influenced by the "sea of developers and owners who challenge [our] integrity."

Personally, I'm honored to have those folks constantly unhappy with us. It usually means that we are doing a great job of building the directory for the benefit of surfers and not letting the webmasters and SEOs types pervert the directory for their own good.

I have a day job(blue collar), I drink beer and look forward to a competitive game with plenty of eye candy in the stands. The people who know me think of me as the level-headed big brother type, somebody they can rely on for good advice and an occaisional kick in the pants. The family gathers at my home for holidays and special events. People tell me, "You're always in such a good mood, always fun to be around."

Forgive me folks if I've been a downer. It appears I have taken this hobby of mine far too serious. I bust my hump all day and at night I design computer games. I think that one day my little hobby might get me out of the sweat shop and into some creature comforts or early retirement. If it happens it happens, but things ain't so bad. Got a wife of 23 years, two kids in college, a fat 401k, everyone is healthy, life is good. I can't complain but I do dream.

Yeah, I think laughing about a down server is crappy when you impose a much higher standard on the rest of us.

Is it a big deal? To server owners yeah, a really big deal and you all ought to get that. But in the scheme of things, no biggie.

Have fun guys.
Good Day

We, as editors, are not in control of the servers (that would be AOL) and so, yes, laughing is about all we *can* do. Not sure what else you expect us to do.

Righto. If you get a glitch in one of your computer games, you built it so you can fix it. We don't have that kind of access, we just play the game, :). If it's down for you, it's down for us also.
