Puzzled Over Site Removal

Hello,
My website recently has been removed from DMOZ for unknown reasons after being on it for over a year. I noted in my stats log that DMOZ visited my website about a week ago for about 30 minutes. Today I checked DMOZ and found my website no longer exists in the directory. My website certainly has not changed significantly in its focus or format since it originated so it is very confusing and dismaying that it has been suddenly deleted from the directory. Is there any chance in the world that I will ever know why this has happened? Is there any point in resubmitting my website? If not, well it was a great time on DMOZ while it lasted, I guess.

Withourt dealing in specifics

If it has changed in focus and was listed in a category with a very specific focus, it may have been moved to another category (where it could be relised immediately, or wait for another editor with permissions to relist it). I guess it depends on the site and how 'significantly' is interpreted.

We no longer offer status or discussion of individual sites in this forum, which is the reason for the generalities.

It could also have been removed from public view by an editor or one of the automated tools if the site was unavailable - usually the sites are rechecked/readded if the site works again in a few days/weeks.

Thank you for the expeditious reply. I hope it will be readded and I will patiently wait. I did add another category to my website which did broaden its scope a bit since it was first listed. Perhaps the DMOZ category it was in was too specific for it, but I have no idea actually.

The best way to check whether your website is listed, rather than hunting through any category you think it might be listed in, is to use the search on the homepage of dmoz.org to search for the domain name. This will show you all websites listed under that domain name anywhere in the directory.

For example:
Instead of searching for http://www.mydomain.tld/myname/mypage.html try searching for mydomain.tld

This will tell you whether the site has just been moved or whether it is no longer in the directory.

Thank you...that is exactly how I check for it.

Live and Learn!!

Sorry for being persistent, but it still is a bit perplexing as to why my website was removed from the directory, especially since my travel photography site has not materially changed at all in focus, format or quality. Also because I just now discovered that DMOZ includes reams of pornographic websites of every description known to man including those that promote sadism and masochism. I realize of course they are in a different category, but it puzzles me as to how any DMOZ editor would deem my website to have less value to the directory than this lot of hardcore porn and sadistic-masochistic websites, some of which Google does not even list. Obviously I have been naive about DMOZ. Perhaps I am wrong to be disappointed over being removed from the directory that includes these sites. My website will survive and prosper, dmoz or not :)

You were given a very good answer earlier:
