I was wondering if there was a way to find out whether my sites submission to DMOZ has been declined?

also if i can find that information out, lets say i overhauled my site etc to the extent it could possibly be accepted ... how long should i wait?

No, there isn't. More details in the FAQ (see link below)

So you suggested a site that you knew wa not acceptable? *puzzled* Anyway, if you feel the site you suggested has changed enough just resuggest it once to the same category. THat suggestion will just overwrite your previous one, and no harm is done.

Nooo, that would be silly ...i meant that if it doesn't get accept then i'd have to assume that in the eyes of an editor it has been deemed as un-acceptable then an overhaul would be in order i suppose if you get what i mean

Thanks for the advice i appreciate it!

A suggestion: Don't design your website to be acceptable to us - design it so that it's optimal for your business. If it's listable, we'll list it in time. If it isn't, we won't.

The editors are ALWAYS looking for sites that DON'T look like they have been (repeatedly) overhauled just to get accepted by an editor, if you get what I mean.

Conversely, evidence of such overhauling is a strong indication that the editor should probably check the site out, but before listing it, wait a good little while to see what it's hauled over next.

Hello I have the sort of the same question. I sumitted my site a year ago I beleive, its a Colorado business directory for small Coorado businesses only and will be a great resouce for our Colorado consumers. I would love to know if it has been rejected or even reviewed. I know there are no status checks on sites but is there any other way to find out? My fear is that becasue this is such a niche area and a small category that nobody is ever going to review it and we will never get listed.
Thansk for any info you can give us we would surely appreciate it!!

Sorry, there isn't.
Unless ofcourse when the website is listed. That is something everybody can see. When that will happen is something nobody knows.

Yes, yes, we heard that part. What we haven't heard is WHY you'd love to know that....what you were planning to do with that information.

There's this uneasy feeling, backed up by LOTS of experience, that: whatever you're planning to do with the information, it can't be good for the directory, or the volunteers who build it.
