Question about a submission

I know there is a sticky that states this isn't the place to request status updates, but I do have a question.

I submitted a website today, which I am 100% certain was submitted to the correct category, but the last edit in the category was 3 months ago. Is that normal or is it possible the section has been abandoned?

Thanks in advance! :)

that is very common

no category can ever be abandoned
with so many categories (at this moment 1,031,451) and only a limited amount of editors it may happen that some categories are not updated as frequently as others
but that is not a problem for DMOZ

Thanks for the explanation. More than happy to edit for that category if need be. It's a VERY small category with only 5 sites listed. I can PM you the category if you would like.

By all means if you have a little bit of time to edit, we welcome new editor applications.

The particular category that I referenced above doesn't have the option to apply. It's a small one, with only 5 listings, so if it was a situation where the particular editor assigned to it needed to dedicate his or her time to the other categories I would happily start by editing the section. It would be a great one to start with since it's small. If you would like me to send you the category just let me know!

If the "apply to be an editor" link is off for a category, that may mean the cat is really just @links and not a "real" category to edit. Other reasons for the "apply" to be turned off is if it is a very spammy category, or it may be too large (in unreviewed) for a new editor. You might find another category, such as your locality in Regional, and apply to edit a cat there, say with 20 to 30 listings. Then, after becoming an editor, you can eventually apply for further categories. You are allowed to list any site with which you are affiliated, as long as all sites are treated equally.

Thank you. I applied and received the confirmation email as shown:

When I clicked on the verification link I received the following:

"Not a valid key"

I applied with the same username as my forum username if that helps. I am ready to get started! :)
