Question about becoming an editor

Recently I started this post.

I submitted a website to this category and noticed it hasn't been updated in a few months, so I was wondering if that was normal. After a reply from @mollybdenum I decided to go ahead and apply to become an editor for this category, for two reasons: 1) I know this industry inside and out and 2) there are only 3 sites listed, so I assume it would be a good place to start.

Now, on to my question: on my editor application I was transparent and mentioned I have ties to the website I initially submitted. While that is not the category I applied to edit, are editors able to submit sites to different categories that they do not oversee? Is that a perk of the job? It's the only website I am affiliated with and it's deserving of being listed.

Anyway, just a question.

Hoping to hear back on my application status soon! :)

It is no problem if editors own websites. They may suggest those websites to the right category just like anyone else.
The only thing editors may not do is giving a website they own a prefered threatment.

Thanks. That is what I assumed. I don't own the website, just affiliated with the company. It was already submitted and not to the category I applied to edit.

Hope to hear back soon! :)

My editor application was denied, along with "reviewer Comments" explaining what the issue was so I could reapply. I just did that and received the email with the confirmation link to click. The new application should be in the system now. :)

Again, received "reviewer comments" explaining that shopping categories are very difficult.

So, I applied again to a new category. Honestly, it is a category that I know more about than most. I was just worried that you wouldn't appoint a woman to edit the category. (...even though I know more about this topic than 99.9999% of the males out there lol)

Anyway, just applied for: Sports/Motorsports/Motorcycle Racing/Off-Road/News and Media :p

woman or man is not something we use as criteria to determine if someone will be a good editor

As long as you received the confirmation email that the application was received, no worries. Your application is awaiting review by a volunteer editor. This may take days to weeks, depending on the editors who are fluent in French.

I had no problem adding a site. What non editors can do is "suggest" a site. Then a volunteer editor will review it at some time. There is no need to contact an editor directly, as there are many editors who can edit in the categories in World, although native speakers may be limited depending on the language. If you have some free time, you can always apply to become an editor and help out.
