I would not worry to much as you did indeed submit the url http://www.1sthotelsuk.co.uk/ as you intended.

However I can see that and editor has reviewed the site and has decided not to list it.

I am afraid that the forum guidelines prevent me from elaborating as to the specific reason on a per_site basis however I will mention that as a directory (which is also what we are) you are going to face an uphill struggle to contain content that adds to the amount of sites already listed on a given topic.

Thanks but frustrated

Thanks for the feedback, that was quick reviewing the site.

Frustrated about the not listing though, is there any way to review this, as I believe the site does offer different content from the current listings, they only list a subset of the UK hotels based on there affiliations, where as this site lists every hotel & guest throughout the UK.

The content of the site may indeed differ from the actual content of the category that it was submitted however as a directory you have to remember that we also have sub-categories that a user can drill down and subsequently get more information direct from the companies own site and not subject to any 'upgrade my listing' requirement.

The information that you provide is, being blunt, the same as I could get from every UK telephone directory, yellow pages, Thompson or 118 XXX service (rememebring that many of those are already accessible from the ODP) and I can see why perhaps an editor may struggle to see what 'unique value' the site has to offer the directory.

I can see that your site does indeed contain more listings than other similar sites around on the net but that in itself does not mean that our users would benefit from it being listed.

No offense is intended by the comments made I am merely trying to explain the more detailed politics of what an editor looks for. In this case I personally would tend to agree with the original editors decision but that is just my own opinion.

<added>I should point out that the rest of the chain of 1st sites face the same sort of problems and that spreading the content over various domains does nothing to improve the chances of seperate individual topical listings</added>
