Question about logs

Hello,

I submitted a site a few weeks ago and I noticed in the server logs about a week later that it seemed to have been visited by an editor. Is there a delay between the time that a site is reviewed and when it shows in the directory?

Thanks very much,

There is a delay, however it's not several weeks. Your submission might have been moved to another category. It might have been rejected. The editor might have decided that it has too much content to review it at that point of time. If you want to know (and if your last submission is at least a month ago), post the URL, the http://dmoz.org/ category and the approximate submission date in the Site Submission Status subforum.

Okay, thanks very much for that information uzs980. I can't imagine any reason it would be rejected, but it's very possible there was too much content to review at the time.

I'll post over there in a week or so.

Thanks again.

And since the person visiting your sites could have been an editor that was not even reviewing the site, just checking it for one reason or another, it's safer to ignore logs and not infer any meaning. It raises false hopes of an early review.

Also, I look at every site submiited, which cause a log entry, around 30% are in the wrong category, and that means I move them. At that point they are in control of anohter editor and the review time is totally undefined.
