Short answer: no, and no again.
Slightly longer answer:
1. You could apply to become an editor (that is, if you're willing to build the corresponding category, finding new sites by yourself and treating each and every submission fairly).
2. Submitting the site to a less-than-best-fitted category will
not get your site listed faster. If it has not been already submitted, it will slow the process, because the reviewing editor will have (after an unforeseeable waiting time) to determine which category is best, then move the submission there, where it will have to wait again to be reviewed... And if it has already been submitted to the best fitted category, then you will cause us unnnecessary work to identify the 2nd submission as a duplicate and to delete it.
So: submit to the category* which, to your opinion and knowledge, fits your site best; and do not submit elsewhere. Many thanks for following that simple rule
* Exceptions: multilingual sites can be submitted to different, equivalent categories in the languages they are available in ; sites that have a local interest as well as a topical one may be listed twice, once in a topical category, and also in the appropriate Regional category -- see
http://dmoz.org/guidelines/site-specific.html#multiple to get a full explanation.
