Question after over 1.5 years

I am not looking for status, just guidance as to what I should do. About a year and a half ago I submitted 2 sites,

Celebrate Orchids

and

Smithfield Farms

I see that Celebrate Orchids has been listed by dmoz but Smithfield Farms has not. I am worried because there are articles on the Web referring to Smithfield Foods and environmental problems. However the name of the company in the articles is erroniously given as Smithfield Farms. Smithfield Foods is a huge corporation that packages pork products in Smithfield, Virginia, I believe the biggest company of its type in the world. Smithfield Farms is a very small family business that sells Smithfield hams, Virginia country hams, and other related products from phone and Web orders. This little family business is not owned by Smithfield Foods nor do they raise pigs or package pork products, and they most certainly do nothing to harm the environment.

Could this have to do with the site not being listed? Back when status questions were allowed, I was told that the submission was there waiting for review but that they had changed the submission to a different category. That's the last I have heard.

Um, we generally don't check the news or environmental studies to determine whether or not a site is listable so, no, I'd say that's not likely an issue for you.

If you were already told it was waiting, then the most likely answer to the question of "why isn't it listed yet?" is that it is still waiting.

I read in another thread that submissions have been lost, not many, but it can happen. I also realize that if I re-submit that the submission date will change and it will go to the "end of the line", so I am afraid to do that. Would it be a good idea to wait another 6 months or a year and then resubmit?

If you've already been told it's waiting then the chances of the suggestion being lost are microscopically small. I wouldn't resuggest it, even 6 months or a year from now.
