Question for any DMOZ editor

Hi DMOZ editors,

What happens regarding categories that say "Volunteer to edit this category."
1. Does any editor get around to editing that category?
2. Or is it left alone until an editor is found for that category?

Just curious,

Frequently Asked Question, maybe? Check out http://resource-zone.com/forum/faq.php

I don't think it mentions this important fact -- the vast vast vast majority (99% or more) of all edits are done by editors who are NOT listed as the editor for the category where the edit is done.

And if an editor is listed in a category, it may be because they haven't been active enough or active long enough to increase their range of ODP privileges.

You never know. We never know.

Come on guys, isn't anyone going to tell him the REAL answer?

I think this is a record pile-on.

Thanks

Thanks for responding everyone - and thanks for the answer.

I submitted to a "current events" category and the editors "higher-up the category tree" fail to keep up. Clearly they don't know the category, sub-categories, and clearly they are missing relevant sites.

That answer makes sense now.

I just hope they find an editor for my category who knows what they are doing.

I think this is a record pile-on.
Our quasi simultaneity is the most frightening part.

fail to keep up
Oh dear. There are no norms or targets. There is no obligation on anyone to evaluate a listing suggestion in any defined time scale at all - and certainly not one of the site owner's choosing.
