The key here is that the Price_Comparisons cat is in the Home tree while the Books/Searches one is in Shopping. "Shopping" is shorthand for "online shopping"; the sites listed in that category should only compare prices on books you can buy online! Price_Comparisons on the other hand lists sites that compare prices on stuff you must go to an actual shop to buy. I'm sure there might be the occasional misplaced site in either of the categories... but that is the rationale behind it.

Hope that made it a little clearer :)

Another perspective on this could be that the sites offering price comparisons on books also tend to offer book search services, making these sites inappropriate for listing in Home/ , and well-placed together under Shopping/Books.

This may or may not be the case ;) -- it's just what I'd gather from the cat names and a very cursory glance at the listings.

Of course, it's also possible that it's just an example of a bit of ontology needing improvement. :p There's plenty of that in the directory, and we're work hard to fix that kind of stuff. Editors familiar with those areas might have a better sense than I do.
