Question on Editor Display Name

I am a member and am thinking about applying to be an editor. I noticed that in the application form, there is a place for display name to be used for the forums. I already have a display name as a member. Do most editors use the same display name, or are we encouraged to create a different one? Any thoughts?

The field you are asking about has nothing to do with this forum. This is an unofficial forum. It is created, moderated and maintained by ODP Meta editors. It is not official dmoz.org. Nothing on the new editor application applies to this forum. The display name you are talking about is what will be displayed in the name field on the following page

http://dmoz.org/editors/profile.cgi?editor=thehelper (just an example)

if you become an editor. Hope this clarifies.

However, there is always the possibility that your name here is already taken as an editors name.

Since not all editors are registered here there is nothing to prevent that happening, and I've seen at least one user here with the same name as an existing editor.
