Question regarding URL submission

I recently submitted my site, <removed> for the second time. The first being about 18 months ago. Is re-submitting after this period of time recommended, or have I put it at risk of going to the bottom of the list for editor review?

Thanks

There is a small risk that suggestions don't make it through to the category for whatever technical reason. So by suggesting it one more time you have removed that risk. Some editors review sites more or less in the order they were suggested for review, but then again, many editors don't, so I wouldn't lose any sleep over that if I were you :)

A re-suggested URL overwrites any earlier suggestion of it to the category.

This has several advantages:
- Listing suggesters can amend their earlier attempts.
- The category doesn't fill up with frequently repeated suggestions made by spammers (they used to).

Listing suggestions are held in a pool, not a queue, and they are processed in whatever order an editor chooses. I generally cherry pick the ones where the suggester has attempted to meet our guidelines for example.

Waiting for 12 months - do I resubmit!?

My website was suggested about 12 months ago by the development company who created the site, and from what I know, the category was correct, along with content material being relevant to category and conformed to ODP's guidelines. Never received acknowledgement that submission had been received, so not quite sure what to do next.

Can anyone assist please?

The only acknowledgement you receive is the "thank you" Web page that appears after you suggest your site -- e-mails aren't sent.

I'm afraid all you can really do right now is wait for someone to choose to review suggested sites in that category.

How long should I wait & any alternative?

Thanks for your reply ... seeing as the submission was sent about 1 year ago, could it be that it will take longer ro review. Maybe this is the case? The category is real estate if this helps.

Do you feel it's better to wait or suggest the site again? Difficult question to answer maybe but could do with some guidance please.

Yes, it could.

> The category is real estate if this helps.
As many real estate categories attract a lot of spam review times can be much longer than in categories that do not attract spam.

> Do you feel it's better to wait or suggest the site again?
Wait.

How do I know I am 'in the queue'

Thanks for your helpful responses.

How do I know whether I am actually in the queue though, and that my request has not been lost?

I could wait for another year, but will never know whether I am in the queue or not!

I know there are only a few companies listed in the region where I am based and market products, yet there are hundreds that market in the region, so imagine lots of requests.

Welcome any advice please.

You can't.

> and that my request has not been lost?
Requests seldomly get lost. The only time we lost suggestions was during the crash end 2006. But if you want ot be sure it is still available to us just resuggest it once. If it was waiting it won't do you much harm (just reset the suggestion date), if it wasn't waiting anymore it won't do you any harm. But resuggest only once to the same category.

Correct.

> I know there are only a few companies listed in the region where I am based and market products, yet there are hundreds that market in the region, so imagine lots of requests.
In Regional (where real estate will be listed) sites will be listed only in the categories of the town where their office is located. Not in the region which they market.

Welcome any advice please.[/QUOTE]
