Hello,

We are a marketing firm and we are submitting sites on behalf of our clients. How do we know if the sites have been accepted or not? I listed on in the summertime, but when I use the URL search tool, it does not come up. Was it rejected? In the summertime, I noticed that our own website was not appearing in the search, so I re-submitted it as well, and now I cannot find it. Am I searching correctly? How can I find out what the status of the sites are?

Thanks!
Vanessa

If a website is listed, it'll be visible in the category. If not, not. Beware of using our rudimentary search for URLS because it can show sites as listed when they've been removed.

You might have misunderstood our objectives and how we operate here. ODP is a volunteer organisation building a directory as a hobby. Editors edit where they wish, when they wish and as much as they wish within the constraints of their permissions. We have no schedules or systems to force people to do work that they don't volunteer to do. ODP is not primarily a free listing service for website owners and it does not attempt to process their listing suggestions within the time scales desired by them.

Some volunteer will process your listing suggestions in time but we can't predict who or when that might be. Elapsed times can range from a few days to a few years. There is no need to re-suggest your website and doing so could be counter-productive because a later suggestion overwrites any earlier one.

You don't You can only see if a site is listed.

> I listed on in the summertime,
A lsight misunderstanding. You suggested a website. An editor will look at the suggestion and decide to list it (or not).
Which editor that will be and when it will happen is something we do not know. It could be tomorrow, next week, next month, next year, or even over several years.

The DMOZ search has problems when searching using an url. You must use domain.tld do not anthing in front (like www or http://) or anything at the end. And even than search does not always find a listed site. The DMOZ search is intended to find categories for a subject not to find individual website.

You can use the advanced search features most engines provide (ie. Bing or Google) to limit by domain - for the domain to limit to, use dmoz.org :2cents:
