queue

I just joined the forum and have seen "queue" mentioned lots of times, and you will lose your place in the queue if you re-submit. I have a question: does ODP's system enforce the "queue" so that an editor cannot go on to the next one in the queue until the previous one is either accepted or denied? or is it just editor's choice to sort the queue by time or by whatever he/she prefers?

"queue" is a misnomer, really. Best to think of the sites pending for review as a "pool" where an editor can pick and choose which they would like to review out of the bunch. This is why we cannot predict when a site will be reviewed. <img src="/images/icons/smirk.gif" alt="" />

[added] Yes, the editor can choose how they wish to sort the pending sites as well.
