Quick Editor Rejections

I have applied to be an editor to the category http://dmoz.org/Health/Professions/Occupational_Therapist/Employment/. A website that I am owner of, Jobs in Therapy(http://www.jobsintherapy.com) is in that category and I have let this be known on my application. I feel like I am being punished for this, and feel that the sites I have submitted are relevent, but my application has gotten rejected very rapidly. Plus, the site 'needs an editor' and I would be a great help to this category. Any help or suggestions would be great.

It's hard to comment on this without having seen the application, but I doubt that you were being "punished" for having a site that is already in the category. More likely there was something wrong with the application that you submitted. Did you submit 3 URLs applicable to the category? Did you enter the correct titles for the 3 URLs? Did you write objective descriptions for the 3 URLs. These are just a few of the things that we're looking for. Take a look at the first thread in this forum - FAQ and General Advice

All the subcategories of Health: Professions: Occupational Therapist have been edited in the past two weeks. It seems likely that this whole area is well edited by the editor above the category you applied to. I suggest you look in the Regional tree for an appropriate (and smallish) local or state occupational therapist category and apply there. Once you are editor anywhere in the directory it is much easier to position yourself into the area or category you are most interested in.

The 'This Category Needs An Editor' message is slightly misleading - it is a standard message displayed for categories with no editor (assuming it is open for applications). While some categories do need editors, others don't need them quite so much.
