hi,

my website www.indigoideas.co.uk was well listed however since the 12th march 2006 the site has completely dissapeared!

i'm not sure why and do not know where to go to check why. i have tried my level best to ensure the site meets W3C guidelines and the site meets all accessibility guidelines.

have i been doing something wrong? if so, please advise so i can revise my site asap. i have tried to adhere to the guidelines wherever possible.

our general policy is not to include any adult, gambling material on our website nor do we do any work for adult/porn websites?

i have recently re-submited my site to be listed about 2 weeks ago. what would be the best thing to do now.

Actually, I deleted those posts because it included a status check (which we no longer do).

re: indigoideas.co.uk

so can someone help me?

i'm not asking for a status check but simply an idea of why this would happen?

as mentioned i thought i had followed the guidelines...you would assume a site is based on legit content - which is what it is and without sounding big-headed - compliant with W3C guidelines, developed completely in css2! no tables..

whats the logic?

How did you see your site isn't listed any more? A link would be fine.

OK, I love portability standards. I've seen hundreds of hours of my own work lost to a changed proprietary standards; and I spent over ten years working for computer manufacturers who were NOT #1 in sales in their niche. In my mind, if it ain't standard, it just ain't.

But that prejudice/ideal/passion of mine, no matter how strongly held, no matter how thoroughly justified by experience, has no right here in the ODP. The ODP policy is to list sites even though they may not be viewable AT ALL with a standard browser.

And, of course, the editor won't KNOW whether your site is W3C compliant (unless, which is HIGHLY unlikely, he runs a validator on every page.)

And, it seems to me that this should have been obvious. So ... what's the logic in mentioning it at all, as if it could possibly have affected the editor's logic, since it so obviously could not have?

I think you may be confusing the ODP with Google as I can find your site currently on the public side of the ODP. I cannot see it in the Google copy of the directory and I got no results for your site from a Google search. It is quite possible to be listed in the ODP and be banned in Google as we have different criteria.

What Google does in respect of their searches or with the ODP data is nothing to do with the ODP so unfortunately we cannot be of any help. You need to talk to Google.

appreciate both your comments.

google is massive. as far as i understood dmoz.org provide google with directory submissions. different rules - accepted ad understood.

no problem, just thought i might get some idea as to what has happened with my website in google!

will try the massive task of trying to contact a human being within google! unlikely, but worth a go!
