Hi

I have a houseplant nursery in the UK. the website is both a resource with tips, care notes etc. As well as containing an online catalogue. There does not seem to be a regional classification for houseplants for the uk, and it is not really gardening. Where can I post the site for someone to let me know the best category. On the FAQ bage it says "If one category doesn't strike you as most appropriate then try posting to Resource Zone"

Thank you

Go for the gardening category (an editor may be able to find a better place for it, we do that for all sites that need it). Also make sure to go for the Locality where the nursery is -- yes, that's two categories, it's a standard exception to the standard submittal policy.

Thanks for the reply.

As I mentioned you can also buy off the site, this does not mean that it necessarily has to go into shopping then. When you say gardening do you mean 'Top: Home: Gardening'
as well as
'Top: Regional: Europe: United Kingdom: Recreation and Sports: Home and Garden: Gardening: Garden Centres and Nurseries'

submited at the same time? Sorry if i'm being a bit thick

the site is www.houseofplants.co.uk if any one could just verify the best catagories. I imagine it saves everyones time if I submit it to the right one now.

Cheers

It's a shopping site that only ships within the UK.

I'd suggest within ../UK/Business_and_Economy/Shopping.

If you have a walk in store in Lewes (not obvious from the website), there too.

Question about regional / local

Should ecommerce based shops therefore suggest as their category
e.g.
/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Business_and_Economy/Shopping/Clothing/Lingerie/ (obviously depending on the nature of their e-shop) or should they submit to their local regional category.

I have submitted a site http://www.licensetofrill.co.uk/shop in this category and deliberately not suggested it for our local directory (Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/Wales/Carmarthenshire/Llanelli/Business_and_Economy/) mainly because most of our customers (for some obscure reason) are actually from Scotland.

Secondly, our site has an introduction page but the main site is in a subdirectory (i.e. the OSCommerce folder). The main page is really a link page to the sections of our site. Should I have suggested the detailed section of the shop rather than the portal page (http://www.licensetofrill.co.uk. All our privacy policies, sitemaps, and glossary of terms etc are actually in the shop area.

Thanks for any help

Kevin

It's always best to suggest the root URL. No matter, the editor will make whatever adjustment is required when s/he gets to it.

Is there mention on the website of a walk in store in your locality and its address (I haven't looked)? If so, additionally suggest it to there. If not, not.

Thanks for the advice

No there isn't a local store so it looks as if my gut instinct of only putting it in the higher level category was the correct option since the local business directory is more aimed as I understand it at the "local" and trade suppliers.

I do actually have another web site in the local directory but that site does the majority of it's work in the area anyway and hence seemed the best place for it.

I wasn't sure about root web sites - in particular for this one since my customer (aka the wife) is now looking at diversifying - albeit into a totally different area and possibly using the same domain with a separate spur off the main page for the new site (partly so that we can use the same merchant account, fixed IP address and SSL). Don't know if it'll come to fruition because she's still sorting out wholesalers and the domain name isn't that apt for the new business.

Should know and expect change from "customers" by now though!!!!

Regards
Kevin
