Rejected. 2nd Opinion?

What if someone thinks that an editor mistakenly characterized a site is an affiliate site, when it is actually original content (with a couple aff links, but don't most sites have ads anyways)?

Is there any way to get a second opinion without submitting a second time which you might consider spamming?

I don't know how specific I can get, so I'll leave it at that, unless you request more info.

How do you know it was characterized as an affiliate site? If you're just guessing (e.g. because it's been awhile since you submitted and your site hasn't been listed), your best bet would be to post a request to have your site's status checked in the "Submission Status Request" forum here. In any case, we can't really comment unless we know the URL you're talking about.

Thanks for the reply.

I was under the impression that ODP guidelines allowed sites to have affiliate and/or advertising links, and editors were encouraged to mentally block out the affiliate content (which we have none aside from the links) and judge it that way.

Now I find out that having a TravelNow link on each page is reason for being rejected regardless of having 100% original content.

Again, thank you for investigating it.

Again, what makes you a) think your site has been rejected (it could still be sitting in the unreviewed queue), b) what makes you think it has been rejected for being an affiliate site and c) what is the URL of the site (so editors can take a peek an comment with some accuracy in this thread: if you could post a clickable link to the category as well - e.g. http://dmoz.org/Regional/Europe/United_Kingdom/ it would be useful).

beebs, he already posted his specific query in the "Submission Status Requests" forum and was responding here to my post there.

Sorry about the confusion. When I tried to reply on the other thread, the 'reply' link was disabled. Maybe you have to login for it to activate or something (most boards ask you to login after clicking 'reply'). Just a newbie mistake.

Do you think it is hopeless to make any adjustment to the site and resubmit? Having a TravelNow link sure seems to be a big hangup, and I am sure there are plenty of sites taking their datafeed and trying to get it listed, but this is not the case here.

You cannot even imagine. <img src="/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" /> I'd bet they are less popular than vstore.com at the moment.
