Hi there.

I own www.phidentity.com, a legal novelty fake ID card business listed in:

http://dmoz.org/Computers/Hacking/Fake_Identification/

Or, it used to be. It was listed for around 5 years, and then recently was removed.

I have no idea why. I've tried to add it again, but I pretty much know thats not going to do anything.

Any idea whats gone on? Why I've been removed and nobody else?

I'm not too bothered about it as Dmoz doesn't seem as important as it used to be, but it would be nice to see whats happend.

Cheers

Jon

robozilla, our automated link checker, found that it wasn't working and removed it from public view on 5th August into the pending pile where a human editor will look at it in due course.

I stress that this wasn't a simple one off outage. The site must have been unobtainable on all of several occasions over a period of a few weeks.

Your submission of 14th August replaced robozillas instance.

Ah I see.

It was probably because I kept getting distributed denial of service attacks in August, although i'm now protected from them.

Any idea how long before i'm back in dmoz?

It has to be manually added by an editor, which means that it will have to wait until an editor gets to it. However, when our link checker identified a site with a technical problem, such as yours, it does highlight the site for editors, and most editors make it a priority to address sites with problems before looking at any potential new sites for a given category.

This means that while it has to wait for an editor, in all likelihood, the next time an editor gets to that category, it will be among the first sites examined.

We're unable to be any more specific than that.
