Removing a client from DMOZ

Hi there,

I am working on the SEO for our client Mr Lender (url removed per guidelines) and need help removing the URL from DMOZ.

Despite the best intentions to be featured on DMOZ, the same listing and links have been shared on a number of low quality websites and this has caused our Google rankings to drop significantly.

I would be grateful if there is anyone who could help please e.g an editor

You may request a change by going to the category and moving the mouse to the far right of the listing. There will be options for requesting/reporting a change. You need to know that editors do not remove active and appropriate listings from the directory. DMOZ has no control over Google or other sites on the web.

Thanks Molly, much appreciated. I have tried this but do not have a login nor am I an editor (neither does the client) cannot submit this in the first place.

Do you have any suggestions please?

Requests may be done by anyone. Just go to that flag symbol to the far right of the listing and click, then follow the instructions.

Daniel, if you click the right icon you will n ot be asked to login.

1 go to the category in which the website is listed
2 hover your mouse over the website name
3 at the far right of the website name and description a flag will be shown, click that flag
4 fill in the form, only requesting changes we will honor (url, title or description that match our guidelines)

we will not honor a request to remove a website from DMOZ
unless that website is not available anymore or if the current content is not the type we do list

Hi there, thank you for the response, I appreciate your help.

However, I have tried this and it won't let me submit the request because I don't have the username or login that was used to add the entry over 10 years ago.

We're in a difficult position because SEO has changed over the years and this link has been shared on several low quality sites that do it automatically and it is affecting our rankings on Google, majorly.

Any help would be appreciated please.

You do not need a username or login to make an update request.
You can request an update request for every listed websites, not only those of yourself.

We have no influence on Google and all those other websites. If a change is made on DMOZ there is no certainty that those other websites will copy the change. You will have to contact them.
