For what reason would you want a URL removed?

Normally there is no process for doing this.

If you can explain your reasoning we might be able to give you more information.

Thanks.

A couple of reasons:

Unsure of the site's fate: the site may go down for a while, may get a complete overhaul, or come back with a different domain name. Content is the main issue being discussed right now, and we're not sure about having the site listed. Robots.txt is an option, but for now, the point of it all is that we don't want traffic to the site until we figure out what to do with it.

I hope that makes sense?

If not, you see why we'd rather law low and regroup!

robots.txt will not help with ODP, it's only for use with search engine spiders, and ODP does not use automatic site spidering. The human editor will not see the robots.txt file.

This site still functions, and has content, therefore it will be listed.

If you don't want the site to get traffic, then take it down - put an under construction sign up and remove all the content. Then post again here and it will be removed as a dead link. Then you can resubmit the new site. Alternatively get the new site up with content and redirect the existing site to the new one and submit an update request.

Without some indication on the site of the intent, we have no way of knowing the legitimacy of your request.

Hope this helps.

Thanks :)
