Hi,

I want to report abuse and have tried to twice by submitting at dmoz but I have never received an answer.

Can anyone suggest where and how to do this best?

Thank you.

Did you report it using the public abuse reporting system? If so, you should have been given a special ID to use to check on the status of the report. You can use that at http://report-abuse.dmoz.org (bottom of the page) to find out the status of your report.

I am not sure, I went to the topic and clicked on the abuse link which took me to http://report-abuse.dmoz.org/

(I removed the part in the link with the category from the link above)

Was never given a special ID so I can't check on it.

I wanted to report this abuse confidentially and was hoping someone would contact me.

motsa already told you. The Abuse reporting system he linked to is the official way to report abuse.

Thanks, but I did use the Abuse Reporting system, once about 15 days ago and the second time maybe some five to six months ago and I have not received an answer.

You won't really receive an answer. When you submit a report you are supplied a case number which you can use to come back and check the status of the abuse report. The status you can see AFAIK is only going to be either:
  • New (doesn't mean it hasn't been investigated, rather that no one has yet to officially name themselves as an investigator)
  • Investigate (which means that a Meta has chosen to name themselves as an investigator)
  • Resolved (Once a determination is made, whether abuse is found or not will only display resolved)
Without the case number that you were assigned you won't be able to access the report to check the status.

Thank you to everyone for your help.

I tried re-submitting the abuse report and this time I did get an ID number.

Maybe I did something wrong the previous two times. Now I will just wait.

Save that number and you will be able to monitor the report. As I said, you won't be notified of the findings but you can see when its resolved.
