Hello,

I'm the webmaster for a small non-profit called Northern Virginia Therapeutic Riding Program. We are listed in one of your categories (Sports/Equestrian/Handicapped_and_Therapeutic_Riding/United_States) with the following description:

Northern Virginia Therapeutic Riding Program - Non-competitive horseback riding lessons to persons with disabilities and special needs in Clinton, Virginia. Includes news, upcoming events, volunteer opportunities and contact information.

The information in the listing is incorrect. It should read:

Northern Virginia Therapeutic Riding Program - Non-competitive horseback riding lessons to persons with disabilities and special needs in Fairfax, Virginia. Includes news, upcoming events, volunteer opportunities and contact information.

I've tried to get this listing updated through "update listing" and "suggest URL" links, but every time I do that I get a "Service Temporarily Unavailable" (this has happened repeatedly over the last few months). Can I request help from someone to update this listing?

I've already sent an email to staff@dmoz.org but it bounced back. I'm not sure what else to do at this point except post on this forum.

The description in this listing ends up in our Google search results and might confuse people, so we really need to get it updated.

Thanks,
Kevin

I believe the Clinton was a misspelling of the Clifton that is indicated on your site. Since you don't actually have a physical address given on the site, I presume that the reviewing editor went with the PO box address. Are you not located in Clifton?

Motsa,

Thanks for your reply. I think you're right that the editor just mistyped "Clinton" for "Clifton." Our barn is in Fairfax and our P.O. Box is in Clifton, so I would prefer that it say "Fairfax." Can I request that someone make this quick change?

Thanks,
Kevin

If there's something on the site that indicates that Fairfax is its correct locality, you'll be able to request the change once we've gotten our suggestion forms working again. Watch the announcement at the top of this forum, that will be updated when the "update url" service becomes available.

Sorry, we really can't do changes like this from requests on this forum. Experience has shown us that if we do then we get swamped with requests here and the forum becomes nearly useless for its primary purposes.

Thanks for your reply. That's understandable, so I'll watch for the "update url" note. We probably won't post the Fairfax address on the site, so I'll just request that they use "Clifton," spelled correctly. Thanks for your help.

Just for the record, whilst it's not prominent, the FAQ
Q. Where do we operate?
A. We conduct lessons in Fairfax, VA.
would be enough for me to change it if requested.

(I don't edit that branch of the directory though)

Nice catch. So, in your update request, make sure the updating editor catches it! Mention the location issue and point the editor to the FAQ for the actual location.
